We use much less tampon packaging and protective materials than we used to. In fact, we use the absolute minimum packaging necessary —just enough to make sure our products arrive to you in a sanitary condition and can be safely stored until you need them. P&G continues to make good progress on designing and shipping more efficient tampon packaging to reduce tampon waste.
96% of all of our tampon packaging globally is recyclable. About 14% of our total packaging is in the formal of cartons, and globally 48% of that is recyclable. In Europe, the Middle East and Asia, 95% of our cartons are made of recycled carton board, and right now, we’re transition packaging in North America to this recycled carton board as well. Additionally, we are pursuing package compression, which reduces the amount of packaging needed while allowing us to ship more product in a truck. This also means less trucks on the road, reducing fuel usage.
