Tampax Pearl 82-count multipack tampons box with Super, Super Plus and Ultra absorbencies.

Quick answer: What is a tampon?

A tampon is a period product that absorbs menstrual flow inside the vagina during your period.

Unlike a pad, which sits in your underwear, a tampon goes inside your body to help absorb your period before it leaves your body.

If you're new to periods-or just new to tampons-it's normal for the idea to feel unfamiliar at first!

A tampon is designed for internal menstrual care.

It absorbs period flow inside you, is comfortable when inserted correctly, and is removed by gently pulling the string when it's time to change!

What are the parts of a tampon?

All US Tampax tampons come with an applicator!

The applicator helps place the tampon inside your body.

Inside the applicator is the tampon itself-the part that actually absorbs your period flow and helps protect you from leaks!

The grip is where you hold the applicator, and the pusher is the piece you press to place the tampon.

Once the tampon is in, you remove and dispose of the applicator.

The string should hang outside of your body to make it easy to remove. And only Tampax Tampons have the Leakguard Braid to help stop leaks before they happen for back up protection!

Where does a tampon go?

A tampon goes into the vaginal opening when you're on your period.

It does not go where you pee.

Your urethral opening is where pee comes out, your anus is where poop comes out, and your vaginal opening is where period flow comes from-and where a tampon goes.

Do tampons help protect against leaks?

Yes!

Tampons may look small, but both tampons and pads can offer up to 100% leak-free protection when used correctly!

The key is choosing the right absorbency for your flow, inserting the tampon correctly, and changing it on time.

First-time tip...

If it's your first time trying a tampon, choose a day when your flow is heavier!

A heavier flow can make it easier for the tampon to comfortably slide into your body.

Take a deep breath, relax your muscles, and remember... tampons have a learning curve!

Most people don't get it right on the first try-and that's totally okay!
